End-of-Life Celebrants and their WHY
My work with Hospice Advisors connects me with funeral providers who wish to create meaningful partnerships with their local hospice providers. Some of those clients have connections, but there has been no progress. Other clients do not know where to start getting to know hospice executives and care team members. By the time a client has reached out to us asking for assistance, they understand that hospice collaborations are essential for ensuring that families receive comprehensive care and support during one of the most challenging times in their lives. It's all about the synergy that helps to create a cohesive network of care and compassion.
As someone who has completed Insight Books’ celebrant training, I always get excited when a funeral home client lets me know they have an active celebrant on their team. Celebrants do tremendous work to personalize tributes and focus on the unique life and character of the deceased. Hospice providers appreciate the work and talent of end-of-life celebrants. Knowing a celebrant helps hospice care team members meet the needs of today's families who wish to find alternative ways to honor their loved ones.
I believe end-of-life celebrants are in a great position further to strengthen the relationship between funeral providers and hospice companies. I've worked closely with the celebrant to help develop and tailor their talking points. That genuine connection right from the start is important. And just as I teach funeral directors to create a WHY statement that conveys their passion for serving families, I share the same concept with celebrants. (If you're unfamiliar with WHY statements, check out Simon Sinek's YouTube video!)
When a celebrant gives a self-introduction, I recommend sharing a WHY statement and communicating one’s core purpose and passion for honoring and celebrating lives. A heartfelt introduction sets the tone for a collaborative relationship. It reinforces the shared commitment to compassionate care with the hospice team, fostering unity and shared purpose.
You may be curious what a WHY statement from a celebrant may sound like. A few examples are below.
